With more and more people buying electric cars for personal use there has been a big increase in demand for home EV charger installation. EV home chargers are not only a convenient, cost-effective and safe way to charge your car at home they also significantly speed up charging time. Charging points are usually installed on an exterior wall of your house or garage and are typically fitted in just one day.
At Capital City Electrical we have a team of fully trained and approved EV charger installers. We are ready and waiting to install the very latest domestic EV charging points in homes in Edinburgh and across the whole of Scotland.

EV Charger Installation Grants
There is currently a £350 government grant available from OLEV. (This was previously set at £500 before changes were made to the scheme in March 2020). This is to help domestic customers with the cost of EV charger installation. The grant is a 75% contribution towards the cost of installing one chargepoint (up to a maximum of £350, including VAT). It is available for most models of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
Until recently The Energy Savings Trust (EST) also offered funding via the Domestic Charge Point Funding scheme. This was only open to people living in Scotland and provided a grant of £300 towards home EV installation. However, this scheme is currently closed to new applications and no decision has been made yet on whether the scheme will reopen.
If you are interested in a home EV charging point, please get in touch with us or give us a call on 0131 202 9188. We will arrange a site visit to survey your property and electrical installation. We will then let you know what work would be involved in an EV charge point installation and give you a quote for the cost. We can also talk you through the terms and conditions of the government OLEV grant to ensure that you qualify. We will then help you fill in an application to get the funding process for your new EV chargepoint up and running as quickly as possible.
